World Thinking Day

every 22 February

Celebrated on 22 February each year, World Thinking Day aims to raise awareness of excellent causes and get us all raising money.   It is also a day when Girl Guides and Girl Scouts think of each other and give thanks for the international friendship of their movement.

The day was first established by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1926 when Girl Guides attended a conference and decided there should be a special day for all Girl Guides around the world to think of each other and be thankful for what they had.

Today, World Thinking Day plays a really important part in raising funds for United Nations Millennium Development Goals – goals which include ending poverty, reducing child deaths and fighting epidemics like AIDS.  Around 30,000 children die from poverty and neglect every year, and this is your chance to make a difference.

The theme for World Thinking Day 2019 is “Leadership” and Guides and Girl Scouts will be learning all about the skills they need to become leaders and go on to make changes in the world.

To get involved, you and your fellow Girl Guides and Girl Scouts can organise fun, sponsored events, like talent shows and games tournaments, to raise money for this great cause.
