Sun Awareness Week will be taking place from 9-16 May 2016 – time to get out your shades and your sun protection lotions and get ready for a summer of safe fun in the sun.
Organised by the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD), the week aims to raise awareness of skin cancer and exposure to the sun.
It is important to regularly self-examine yourself to check for skin cancer and check for new moles and melanomas.
At the Sun Awareness Week website, you can find out exactly how to check for changes in your skin and what to do as soon as you spot them. You can also order a sun awareness pack or view information online to learn more about the dangers of getting skin cancer from the sun.
Throughout the week you can expect to see and hear more about staying safe in the sun, how to apply sun tan lotion effectively and what to do if you do accidentally get sunburnt.
It’s also important to remember that when playing sport in the summer months, or just sitting spectating – it’s all about protecting your skin from the sunshine.
