Save Lives Clean your Hands is observed every 5 May.

Organised by the World Health Organisation (WHO), the day was first launched in 2009 to improve hand hygiene worldwide, reduce infections and improve patient safety in hospitals.

You can take part by registering your health care facility today and improving hand hygiene.  Over 12,000 facilities from around the world have already signed up to take part and you can get involved too.

By organising activities like self-assessments to see how effectively you wash your hands, or creating a website to promote cleaning your hands, you can help raise awareness of the importance of this small action that can lead to big changes in world health.

To find out more about how to get involved and the best way of cleaning your hands to get rid of all those nasty germs, you can visit the official Save Lives Clean your Hands website.  There’s lots of information about the day and the best ways to get involved, as well as tips and advice.

So get involved today and help stop the spread of infections.
