Safer Internet Day
5 February 2019
So when is Safer Internet Day? Well, this year the day, which has been organised by Insafe since 2005 will be held on 5 February 2019. The purpose of this awareness day promotes safe and responsible use of the internet, the week aims to teach young people about how to keep themselves safe online. And, of course, the use of the internet in a safe and responsible way is paramount!
These days, most young people have access to the internet with their mobile phone, tablets or laptops. So the day aims to raise awareness of online safety for young people.
Throughout the day there will be activities held across the UK to keep us all informed about how we can all surf the internet safely.
From school assemblies and questionnaires to informative leaflets and talks from members of the police on the dangers of internet bullying, all aspects of e-safety will be covered.
There are lots of things you can do to get involved to help raise awareness of the day in your local community. And if you visit the official website you will be able to order an information pack for your school so that students can all take part in this important awareness day.
There are also competitions for young people to get involved with, like internet safety quizzes and a Safer Internet Day poster competition.
You can also raise awareness in your own community, doing anything from delivering leaflets to hosting a parents session to discuss any issues or questions they may have.
So get involved and stay safe this Safer Internet Day!
