Marriage Week

Say “I Do!” to

Marriage Week

7-14 February 2019

Marriage Week has traditionally been celebrated in the USA annually from 7-14 February.  The week was first established in 1997 and incorporates the most romantic day of all – St Valentine’s Day.

However, nowadays many countries observe the day on different dates throughout the year.  For example in 2019 the UK will celebrate Marriage Week from 13-19 May 2019.  But, whatever the date it’s time to celebrate the love and commitment of saying those special words, “I do”.

Part of the Futureway Trust, the week is now in its nineteenth year.  The worldwide aim of the week is to celebrate the diversity and vibrancy of marriage as the heart of family life.

It’s thought that over 90% of young people in the UK want to find that special someone and celebrate their love with marriage.

The event organisers want everyone to get talking about relationships and the skills needed to build strong and lasting bonds.  So how about attending a local event, and for those who are married remember why you fell in love in the first place.

So … there are lots of ways to get involved this Marriage Week.  Couples can do anything from re-affirming those special wedding vows to inviting other couples round for dinner and talking a trip down memory lane with your marriage memories.

Churches and community groups can get involved too with events like marriage courses or offer a services or celebrations of re-affirmation of wedding vows.
