Women: are you
feeling empowered?
International Women’s Day
every 8 March
International Women’s Day – Women’s rights have improved a lot over the past century, but still not enough and not everywhere. Females should be able to live equally and have all the opportunities to achieve what they want.
There are all kinds of discrimination that goes on worldwide. Amongst these there is trafficking, lack of representation in politics, domestic violence, and rape. 98% of women in Somalia are victim to genital mutilation and there are pupils in Somalia actually raped by their own teachers.
It’s time to draw awareness to these issues by organising International Women’s Day events! This year the theme of the day is: “#BalanceforBetter”. It’s time for a more gender-balanced world!
During International Women’s Day thousands of events will take place around the world to celebrate the achievements of women. Events will range from huge organised activities to smaller gatherings, fundraisers, exhibitions and fayres! All you have to do is register on the official website, then think up your unique event and add the details online! If you can’t arrange an event, there are other options you can explore to support the day. How about submitting your own article, videos or podcasts on how you feel about the day.
