International Bath Day is celebrated annually on 14 June.
It is believed that on this day Archimedes the mathematician and scientist discovered that the level of the water in his bath tub rose as he got in and therefore the volume of an object could be accurately measured by being submerged in water. In his excitement it is said that Archimedes leapt out of the bath tub and ran naked through the streets of Syracuse in Greece yelling “Eureka, Eureka!”
Today, International Bath Day is celebrated by letting children play with toys in the bath and rejoicing over their own new amazing bath time discoveries! Eureka!
